Avamere at Sandy - Executive Director, Sara Sutherland

As Executive Director of Avamere at Sandy, I enjoy the many opportunities that arise each day from learning more about each resident to working closely with our team to best meet their individual needs.

We support Avamere's Family of Companies' overall mission, "To enhance the life of every person we serve" by personally getting to know each resident and learning what is important to them. From the moment a new resident moves in, our staff welcomes them into our "family" by listening to their concerns, working closely with their physicians, and reaching out to their families. We also seek community resources to add to the quality of lives for active residents, such as attending area festivals and events at the nearby senior center and connecting with doctors or other health care services.

Two things we're most proud of:

First, we are very proud of our low staff turnover. For instance, both I and Cathi Davenport, our Memory Care Community Administrator, have been with Avamere Family of Companies for eight years. We also enjoy having a strong core staff that has been with us for several years.

Secondly, we just received a deficiency-free survey from the State of Oregon for both our assisted-living and memory care communities. We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of the entire team who have made this possible.
